Nwankwo Kanu is recovering in the United States after undergoing corrective heart surgery.

His younger brother Ogbonna told BBC Sport that the former Arsenal striker is doing well after the operation.

"It's important to clarify that decision to operate him was reached during his annual medical check-up.

"We give thanks to God that everything went well and he's in perfect condition.

Mensah eyes Brazil World Cup place

Algeria add Armenia to list of World Cup warm-up games

World Cup finalists Algeria have added another friendly international to their World Cup preparations ahead of Brazil 2014.

The Algerian Football Federation said in a statement on Sunday that the Desert Foxes will play Armenia in a warm-up game in Geneva on 31 May.

The match will be one of three fixtures they have planned before Algeria head to Brazil,.

The North Africans will be in Group H with Belgium, Russia and South Korea.

Algeria will be aiming to reach the knock-out stages of global football's showpiece event for the first time.

They have already set up a warm-up game with Romania in Geneva on 4 June.

Algeria will also host Slovenia in Blida on Wednesday as they begin the build-up to their second successive World Cup appearance.

Sunday's Oscars ceremony, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, was watched by 43 million TV viewers in the US.

According to broadcaster ABC, it was the biggest audience for the Academy Awards in a decade.

The audience was 6.4% bigger than last year when the event was fronted by Seth McFarlane, according to ratings figures from Nielsen.
